Writing Workshop
Myth, Body, Future — begins May 5th, 2026
Tuesdays in May from 4-6pm (Pacific Time Zone) via Zoom (May 5, 12, 19, 26)
(A recording of each session will be made available to all registrants for a limited time afterwards.)
Cosmic Sappho is our point of departure: fragment, desire, invocation. From there we move through siren call, descent, prophecy, and into the communal survival imaginaries of Octavia Butler’s Parable of the Sower and other brilliant speculative visionaries.
This is a four-week immersive workshop that braids speculative writing with ocean-inspired embodied practice. Together, we’ll gather as a kind of writing party, building mythic vessels, crossing thresholds, answering creative quests, and shaping shared lore through collaborative worldbuilding.
Each session opens with a corporeal meditation to ground the body, then moves into writing portals that carry us into speculative terrain. We’ll study and dream alongside queer and BIPOC voices in speculative fiction, sci-fi, and fantasy, using their work as compass, map, and spell.
Expect fragment and future. Mythic beings. Time folds. Post-collapse possibilities. Language as tide. Story as current. Writing as a threshold practice between the real and the imagined.
Think of it as soft, writerly D&D: no gaming experience needed, just a willingness to enter the quest.
You’ll leave with new pages, a clearer world in motion, and embodied tools for sustaining creativity in disorienting times.
No prior D&D experience required. Just bring your body, your imagination, and your hunger for new worlds.
